Can money problems ruin a good companionship? Well, it shouldn’t, but it has the potential to. In these trying times, when almost everyone is affected by the recession and the credit crunch, there is a high degree of stress, anxiety and uncertainty in the air. Of course, money is not everything. However, money helps us enjoy certain luxuries and comforts. Money can bring joyous moments when you gift your companion something he/she always wanted or take him/her out for a surprise dinner. No matter how much you love and respect your partner, monetary issues can ruin the companionship.
Of course, dealing with the credit crunch is not easy. However, being conscious about the problem and taking some steps can help you and your partner be better companions. The first step is to understand that you and your partner are concerned about and stressed over money problems. In the current scenario, the two of you need to work together, rather than blaming each other every time you run out of patience. Communication is very important. Unless the two of you are open with each other, obstacles cannot be removed. Listen to each other. Put yourself in his/her shoes and analyze the perspective. Supporting your partner will boost his/her courage and confidence, which is crucial to tackle any difficult situation.
These may be stressful times, but do work on your sense of humor. Crack jokes and laugh together. Laughing is therapeutic. It releases endorphins in the body, which energizers us and leaves us feeling happy and healthy. Such feelings can do wonders to your companionship.
Everywhere we turn, all we hear about is the loss of jobs, companies declaring bankruptcy and the credit crunch. However, it is essential that you separate your worries and your time with your partner. Enjoy each other’s company. Think of innovative alternatives to your usual expensive outings. There are several things you can do that are inexpensive, but yet a lot of fun. Instead of going out to a restaurant, you can plan a picnic. A picnic is more intimate and can turn out to be more exciting. Instead of taking your partner to see a play, you can opt for a standup comedy event. Apart from being cheaper, this idea will get laughter back into your relationship.
It is easy to drown yourself in your money woes. However, it is important to remember how valuable companionship is.
