The importance of wearing the right perfume can not be undermined. It is as important as wearing an appropriate dress or matching accessories. Perfumes add the finishing touch to your attire. They are also a way of expressing your personality and definitely impact your emotions. However, choosing the right perfume for a date can be a daunting task. Here are some perfume tips that can make this task a little easier:
Categories of Perfumes
There are six categories of perfumes:
r Floral (smells of flowers and is associated with feminism and romance)
r Fruity (smells of fruits, may have a spicy tinge)
r Oceanic (smells of the sea)
r Greens (include smells that remind you of the outdoors)
r Orientals (exotic smells, including musk, vanilla and spices)
r Woody (smells like bark or other trees found in the forest)
Perfume Tips: Choosing the Right Fragrance
r Time: There is the right time for wearing particular fragrances. If your date is a day one, you can wear subtle fragrances, like lemon or aqua. For a dinner, a stronger smell, like sandalwood or tobacco, is advisable.
r Weather: The weather also plays a crucial role. If your date is during summer, choose a subtle scent because they tend to last longer. A stronger smell should be worn in winters.
r Place: If the plan is to go to a fancy restaurant, you should wear a more expensive perfume.
r Personality: Match the perfume you wear with your personality. If you have a vibrant personality, choose a fruity fragrance like mandarin, grapefruit or raspberry. Floral scents like jasmine, narcissus and rose are best if your personality is gentle. For an adventurous personality, woody smells are more appropriate. And, if you want to try something unusual, go for a slightly stronger scent with a hint of floral or fruity notes like musk, mandarin orange and green tea.
The right time to shop for a perfume is the afternoon because at this time our olfactory glands (smell sense) work at their peak.
How to Wear a Perfume
The quantity of a fragrance you should dab on yourself varies according to the type of perfume. While colognes and deodorants last for only two hours, eau-de-parfum lasts for as many as four to five hours, while perfumes may last for more than six hours. It is not a good idea to wear too much perfume. Dab perfume on warmer areas, like the insides of your elbows, behind your ears and knees, inner thighs and chest. This makes the fragrance last longer. Avoid wearing highly scented products, like a body lotion, before applying a perfume.
